Who are we ?
Bedora & co is a traditional sawmill, specialized in the sawing of maritime pine since 1922. It was founded by the Bedora family and three generations have worked there. It was taken over by Frederic Leonard in 2018.
The plant is situated in Pomarez, in the Landes (South West of France), in the largest European forest (mainly man-made)
Our supply is local: standing timbers bought to private foresters or timbers sold at roadside.
The timbers come from private or public forests for which a sustainable management is ensured and certified PEFC. They respect the environment, and once the timbers are chopped, the plots are reforested.
2020 -2021 : the sawmill’s energy needs include the investment of new Hangars and 1 renewal of Hangar with Photovoltaic Panels. The sawmill will work at “Green Energy”. Other investments are under study.
Our sawmill is certified PEFC as well, under the label “QUAL /04-022” and respects the environment following French and European regulations.
16,000m3 (about 21,000 yd3) of ridges are needed each year.
Our sawmill sells sawed timbers locally, in France and in Europe (Spain,..)
Our wood is high-quality and cut from mature thus strong timbers (50 to 90 years old).
At Bédora, we care for the environment and are progressively turning to green energy.
Indeed, in 2020, we plan on installing photo-voltaic panels on our shed, in order to protect the timbers and be self-sufficient.
